Concert Choir

Juventus will provide two levels of choral experience in the fall of 2011: Junior Choir and Concert Choir. Concert Choir welcomes singers aged 10-18, and provides training for choristers interested in furthering their musical development.

Range of Activities

Concert Choir welcomes girls and boys with unchanged voices ages 10 – 18 years of age. Concert Choir offers a challenging vocal program, teaching the highest quality repertoire to the highest standard. The Concert Choir provides many opportunities to showcase excellence in performance:

  • performs two concerts annually

  • performs in many community events and festivals

  • competes in local, provincial and national music festival competitions,

  • performs with other performers and musicians such as the Regina Symphony Orchestra, the Regina Philharmonic Chorus, Canadian Chamber Choir, and more

  • performs community service concerts at care homes and seniors residences

  • participates in choral workshops and choral exchange trips.

Values

A sense of community, fellowship and caring for one another is the cornerstone that Juventus Choir is built upon. The Choir focuses on building team work, personal confidence, a sense of belonging and fostering life long friendships. Choristers gain an understanding of and passion for choral music and performance, and are introduced to the local, provincial and national music and choral community.

Travel and fun are also part of our choral experience. The Concert Choir has travelled to Ottawa, Edmonton, Brandon, Saskatoon, and Yorkton to participate in a wide range of performance and choral exchange opportunities. “It’s fun to do something so well” says Diana Woolrich, Music Director.

Award Winning

Juventus Concert Choir is a frequent winner of many local, provincial and national music festival awards. Mostly recently the Concert Choir is  honoured to have placed 2nd in the Dr. and Mrs. J. F. K. English (16-and-under) competition of the 2011 National Music Festival.

Rehearsals

The discipline of regular practice is a keystone to our success. Performing at the highest level requires a strong commitment from all choristers. Regular rehearsals are held each Sunday afternoon from 3:00 - 5:00 pm at the Knox Metropolitan United Church gym. Juventus is proud to offer a 30 minute music theory class to enhance musical literacy and general musicianship of all choristers, either before or after regular rehearsal time. All materials are provided for theory class(es) and are included in the fees
