Junior Choir
Juventus will provide two levels of choral experience in the fall of 2011: Junior Choir and Concert Choir. Junior Choir is the first level for beginning singers aged 6-13, and provides an introductory choral experience and training for choristers interested in progressing to further levels of the choir and continuing their musical development.
Range of Activities
Junior Choir performs in the choir's Christmas and Spring Concerts, the Rotary Carol Festival, the annual fundraising banquet and in the Regina Music Festival. Their annual calendar of events may also include a day long trip of mini-concerts performed at various elementary schools in Regina, fun team building activities such as hay rides at Dallas Valley Ranch, bowling parties, Halloween theme nights, family barbeques, and a yearly wind-up party. Costs for these fun “extras” are generally included in the fees.
Values
A sense of community, fellowship and caring for one another is the cornerstone that Juventus Choir is built upon. The Choir focuses on building team work, personal confidence, a sense of belonging and fostering life long friendships. Choristers gain an understanding of and passion for choral music and performance, and are introduced to the local, provincial and national music and choral community. Many of our previous choristers have become successful musicians.
Rehearsals
Junior Choir rehearses each Friday night from 6.00-7:00 pm at Knox Metropolitan United Church gym from September - May.
Join Us!
While previous vocal or instrumental experience is welcome, it is not mandatory. Music Director Diana Woolrich looks forward to meeting all children interested in singing for assessment and placement in the choir(s).
Interested in giving it a try? During the choir season, attend a rehearsal for a trial “day in the life of a chorister” experience or simply plan to meet with the Music Director for assessment and placement in the choir(s)!
