Diana Woolrich (Music Director and Conductor of Intermediate and Concert Choirs) holds a Bachelor of Music degree in voice with great distinction from the University of Regina, where she also completed the course work for a graduate degree in music theory and taught for some years as a sessional lecturer. Currently her time is divided between voice teaching, choral conducting, and adjudicating, and she recently undertook some consulting work for the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto. Her singing students have regularly won awards in festivals and examinations, been selected as provincial representatives for the National Youth Choir, pursued music studies at university level and beyond, and built professional singing careers in Europe and the U.S. as well as Canada. From 1988 until 1995, she was director of the junior choir of St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral in Regina, and from 1996 until 2000 she co-directed the annual Diocese of Qu’Appelle’s Bishop’s School for Choristers with her husband, Robin Swales. She has served as children’s chorus master for Opera Saskatchewan and for Opera Nuova of Edmonton in Regina. In the fall of 1994, she became music director of the newly-formed JUVENTUS. She is a member of the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Saskatchewan Music Educators’ Association, and the Saskatchewan Registered Music Teachers’ Association. In 2001 she was the recipient of the Saskatchewan Choral Federation's Pro Musica award for service to choral music. Her a cappella choral composition for upper voices – Les Papillons – is published by the Eboracum Choral Series in the UK.
Dorianna Holowachuk (Assistant Conductor) is a Juventus alumna of 10 years. She has her grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) certificate in Voice, grade 8 RCM certificate in Piano and her Intermediate RCM certificate in Music Theory & History, all with honours. She studied voice privately with Diana Woolrich for eight-and-a-half years and currently studies voice with Lynn Channing at the University of Regina. She studied piano with both Hart Godden and Karen Klassen and RCM Music Theory & History with Hart Godden. She also studied flute privately with Tara Semple for a year and a half. Past memberships include Saskatchewan Music Educator's Association (SMEA) Provincial Honour Choir 2004-2008 and National Youth Choir of Canada 2010. Dorianna also enjoys composing choral music; her first piece Seas of Snow was premièred by the Juventus Concert Choir in December 2004. Currently, she is in her third year of studies in the Bachelor of Music Education program at the University of Regina. This spring, she will complete her pre-internship as part of the B.Mus.Ed. program. Dorianna is very pleased to make her debut as a choral conductor with a choir she knows and loves so well.
Alison Purdy (Accompanist, Concert Choir) began studying piano in Regina at the age of eight and has been playing ever since. She holds a Bachelor of Music Honours degree from the University of Wales and an A.R.C.T. diploma in piano performance as well as a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in chemistry from the University of Regina. Alison is frequently heard at recitals and at the Regina Music Festival accompanying vocal aqnd instrumental students. She has been the organist at Wesley United Church and the rehearsal accompanist for the Regina Philharmonic Chorus for many years. This will be her fourth season as accompanist for the Juventus Concert Choir. She is a doctoral student in mathematics at the University of Regina.
Sarah Stubbe has been playing piano since she was 8 years old. This spring, she completed her Bachelor of Music program with distinction from the University of Regina, earning both music history and piano performance degrees. Over the past three years, she has been gaining valuable experience accompanying for the voice students of Karen Frandsen, both children and adults -- augmented by accompanying and choral conducting classes at the university. She is thrilled to be playing for the Juventus junior choir this year.
